About
Because we deserve a night like this
There is a particular kind of magic that happens when a room full of BIPOC women gather. Not to perform, not to prove anything, but simply to be celebrated exactly as they are. That is the spirit A Sunday Fête was built on, and on November 7th, we are taking that spirit and dressing it in velvet.
A Night in Velvet is the first annual black tie gala in the A Sunday Fête series — an evening of elegance, connection, and quiet luxury, created specifically for the community that has shown up for us all year long.

The night begins with a welcome reception: prosecco in hand, a spotlight Photo Booth to garner excitement, a live saxophonist setting the tone, candlelight against the pavilion's panoramic views of the Gorge Waterway. From there, guests are seated for a plated three-course dinner, an African-inspired, fully gluten-free menu thoughtfully created by House of Boateng, with a vegan option available for the main course. Wine is served throughout dinner, and as the evening turns toward dancing, DJ LaLa takes over to bring the energy home. Throughout the night floral design by Rook & Rose brings the tables to life, and the entire evening is documented by photographer Biya Paras.
For many women, the word "home" is meant to mean safety. For too many, it doesn't. The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada's largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to funding women's shelters and domestic violence prevention. Here in Greater Victoria, the funds raised stay entirely within our community, supporting four local organizations doing this essential work:
Ten percent of every ticket sold to A Night in Velvet is donated directly to the Foundation. When you join us this November, you are not only stepping into an evening of celebration — you are helping ensure that home means safety for women and children across our community.
